Pixar’s Lightyear and other movies with same gender relationships to watch with your kids | The Times of India

June is celebrated as LGBTQ+ Pride Month, encouraging meaningful conversations and activities to raise awareness and acceptance of the LGBTQ+ community. Apart from engaging in events and raising awareness on social media, it is also important to have these informative conversations at home. One such way is by watching films and shows which sensitively and sensibly represent the community.

It has been announced recently that Pixar’s ‘Toy Story’ spinoff ‘Lightyear’, scheduled for US theatrical release on June 17, will not be playing in fourteen markets across the Middle East and Southeast Asia due to the inclusion of a same sex relationship. One such scene of the film involves a new lesbian space ranger character named Alisha and her partner greeting each other with a kiss on the lips.

There are several films available on multiple streaming platforms which you can watch with your family and develop a better understanding and acceptance of LGBTQ+ characters and community.
