In 24 hours, 5 Lashkar men gunned down in J&K | India News – Times of India

SRINAGAR: Four Lashkar-e-Taiba terrorists were killed by security forces in J&K on Sunday. While three of them were gunned down in Drabgam area of south Kashmir’s Pulwama district, the fourth was slain in a “chance encounter” in Srinagar’s Kreesbal Palpora Sangam area.
In the past 24 hours, five LeT terrorists have been killed in J&K, including one in an encounter in Kulgam on Saturday.
IGP (Kashmir Range) Vijay Kumar told reporters in Srinagar that with the latest police action, 100 terrorists have been killed in various anti-terror operations in J&K so far this year.
The IG identified the slain terrorists in Pulwama as Junaid Ahmad Sheergojri of Gadoora, Fazil Nazir Bhat of Drabgam and Irfan Ahmad Malik of Arabal Nikas. One among the slain trio was involved in the targeted killing of police constable Riyaz Naikoo on May 13 as well as an attack on workers at a brick kiln in Budgam on June 2, in which one migrant labourer was killed and two more injured, IGP Kumar said.
“The encounter started on Saturday evening after a joint team of the Army, CRPF and J&K Police launched a cordon-and-search operation in Drabgam based on intelligence inputs received by SSP Pulwama about the presence of three local terrorists in the area,” the IGP said, adding: “Two AK-47 rifles and a pistol were recovered from the site of the firefight.”
Kumar said police on Sunday received inputs regarding the movement of a terrorist on the outskirts of Srinagar in Kreesbal Palpora Sangam area, following which a special small team was deputed for search. The terrorist slain in the encounter, Adil Parray, was involved in the recent killings of two police personnel, he added.
“LeT terrorist Adil Parray of Ganderbal, who was involved in the killing of JK police personnel Hassan Dar in Sangam and Saifulla Qadri in Anchar Soura and injuring a nine-year-old girl, killed in a chance encounter with a small team of police,” Kumar tweeted.
The senior officer said Parray, along with his associate Abid Khad, had joined terror ranks in September 2021 and had been involved in a series of attacks on civilians and outsiders in Srinagar last year. Abid was killed in an encounter in Ganderbal in March this year. Parray, the IGP added, had been planning a terror attack during the upcoming Amarnath Yatra.
